Today we took a quiz over Act 4 of The Crucible. Then, we answered and discussed the following:
A)What was your reaction to the choice that John Proctor made at the end of the story? Were you surprised by his actions or did you predict that’s what would happen? B)Do you think most people in this room would sign a false confession to save their lives? Explain why you think so. C)Do you think most of the teachers in this school would sign to save their lives? Why? Name a few whom you think would not sign. D)Would you sign a false confession to something horrible in order to save your own life? Why? E)Using what you know from the play and about the Puritans , why do you think John Proctor chose not to save his life by signing the confession? F)Kind of a totally different direction here, but write a brief response to the overall story of The Crucible. Discuss why you did or did not like this story. If you had to sum up the theme (or the message) of this story in a 4 word sentence, what would it be? I) Why do you think so many people in Salem were willing to support the arrests, trials, and executions that took place?
Remember, you have a test over the whole play tomorrow!
Check back here this evening for some study tips for the test.
