THIS CLASS:
English 3 is built around American literature with a healthy dose of grammar and writing. Starting with the landing at Plymouth Rock and stretching into modern times, we will be exploring literary titles from various points in American history and from different perspectives of America's diverse culture. A study of grammar and mechanics will fall in the fall semester, along with a few writing assignments, followed by more in-depth writing projects in the spring. Yes, the infamous Junior Research Paper will be an important part of this school year.
As far as behavior and discipline go, just follow a few simple rules and you will be fine.
1) When the teacher is talking, you aren't.
2) Respect the other people in the classroom.
3) Bring required materials to class.
4) Don't get in the way of other people's learning.
5) Follow the rules of cell phone possession.

MR. TUCKER:
This is Mr. Tucker's 15th year at Bowling Green High School and his 18th in the teaching profession. He is a native of Kentucky and a graduate of WKU. His favorite author is John Steinbeck, he thinks diagramming sentences is cool, and he is a firm believer in good luck finding people who work hard and plan ahead. In the classroom, he enjoys lots of interaction and class participation. He tries to engage students in learning through real-life connections, but at the same times is a disciple of the philosophy of pretending to be interested when you're not. If it were nothing but continual fun and entertainment, it wouldn't be called "schoolwork," would it? Though it doesn't seem to be very plentiful, in his spare time Mr. Tucker enjoys writing fiction, photography, kayaking/paddle boarding, and spending time with his family.
THIS BLOG
This blog is a resource for students and parents. Please bookmark it on whatever phone, tablet, or computer you use. It is each student's responsibility to use this site as a 24/7 resource of what is and has been going on in Junior English. If you miss school, this is your record of what happened while you were away. Do not ask me the next day in class "What'd I miss?" It will be right here! If you forget the specifics of a homework assignment, you can check here for those details. If you were out of the classroom during the showing of a documentary, there's a good chance a digital version of the video will be posted here so you can catch up on what you missed. Yes, a .docx or .pdf of many handouts/worksheets will be posted as well. I will try to post here daily, but sometimes I won't. At the least, I'll be posting every other day on occasion, but normally I'm pretty good at keeping up to date on my online updates. Universities, tech schools, and community colleges around the country use online classroom portals for teachers/professors to post class communications and information. Often times these online classrooms are a required part of the course. Get in the habit now of using an online site to stay connected to a class.
