Today, you are starting the first 4 chapters of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. (Commonly referred to as just Huck Finn in class.) Here are a few "rules" we have regarding the book and its reading:
•Respond to questions/tasks to the right of the text as you read.
•Keep up with assigned readings on schedule
•There will be two versions of the book available to you: the original, and an edited text where the n-word has been replaced with a less offensive alternative.
•Just because you may see a word in print does not give you permission to say it in class. No one, at any time, will repeat an offensive word from this book (or others.)

You need to have the entire packet read and filled out before coming to class on Monday.
If you would like access to an excellent MP3 audio of the book, CLICK HERE. Do keep in mind that this audio book is of the original, non-censored text of Huck Finn. Still, the guy who reads it does a really great job with bringing the text alive.
