Happy Friday!!!
Today you will be doing some more search and gather via the internet, using OneNote to save your findings.
* Go to the Practice section of your Junior English notebook. In it, create a new page and title it"Career."
* On the page, you are going to save the information you find today. Make sure that you copy the URL for each and every place you gather information. This is VERY important. If you ever use the desktop version and usually the app version of OneNote, it does this automatically for you. We are on the Chromebooks today, however, and you will have to copy and past URLs on your own.
* You are going to be researching a career that you have genuine interest in and that is a reachable vocation for most people. That means you choose something that is attainable for most people who take the necessary steps to get there. Careers to avoid would be things that only a very small fraction of people can attain and that rely on a lot of luck and/or natural talent. So, stay away from professional athletes, being president of the United States, movie stars, super models, and pop music stars. WARNING: If you choose an improbable/impractical career, I will NOT grade your work and you will get a zero!
* Start by gathering information that provides a good description of the career you select. You need to be able to provide a good overview of what the job is so that anyone reading has a clear understanding of it.
* Find at least three different sources that tell the average yearly salary for this job.
* Find two sources that mention what the job market is currently for this career.
* Find out what kind of degrees/certification this career requires. Cite two or more sources. If your job doesn't require any sort of certification or degree...you picked the wrong job.
* Research one institution/school where you can see yourself earning this diploma/certification. Find out what the degree requirements are, what the annual costs of attendance are, and how long you expect to attend in order to receive your degree. Add up the total expenses required to earn that degree/certification.
* Write a 5-7 sentence paragraph in which you discuss why you are interested in this career, why you think you would enjoy it, and why you think it is something you could be successful at.
ALSO, you are required to read Chapter 3 of The Pearl for Monday!
